GENERAL SUMMARY

Seeking a newly graduated accounting major to maintain financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with month-end financial close process, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. Assisting the accounting manager as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting in the preparation of special duties, reports, analysis, and recommendations in areas such as budgets, forecasts, and statistical reports.
• Processing, posting, and reconciling of Accounts Payable.
• Assists with internal and external audit requests and deliverables.
• Assists with month-end closings.
• Processing, posting, and reconciling of ACH (Automated Clearing House).
• Processing, posting, and reconciling of VISA processing.
• Processing, posting, and reconciling of ATM’s (Automated teller machine).
• Preparing and posting journal vouchers to the general ledger, maintaining subsidiary accounts, and balancing such accounts to the general ledger.
• Utilizes tact and experience-based knowledge to research and resolve member inquiries explaining specific policies, procedures, and products. Represents the Credit Union in a professional manner and maintains positive member relations.
• Participating in projects associated with the development of new products or services.
• Ability to perform all Accounting Specialist duties as needed.
• Performs other Accounting and Administrative duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or the Chief Financial Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Financial institution accounting experience, preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• Previous financial institution experience preferably in accounting, operations, or member services.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of accounting (GAAP) principles.
• Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment.
• Demonstrate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) proficiency skills.
